"Bennet's Map of the River Thames from Oxford to Gravesend" - a classic Victorian vertical format lithographic folding map of the river Thames from the guide "Up and Down the River", printed and published by John Frederick Bennet c.1889 in London. "London J.F. Bennet, 82 Queen St. E.C. The figures indicate number of miles from Oxford."

John Frederick Bennet was a City of London printer and manufacturer of stationary. Bennet had a shop in Queen Street, featured among many entertaining advertisements in his handy little booklet and guide "Up and down the River", with attached lithographic print of an attractive "Bennet's Map of the river Thames from Oxford to Gravesend". The birds-eye view panoramic folding map shows popular stretch of the river Thames with marked bridges, piers, railway lines and places of interest. The accompanying guide had twenty pages of text and advertisements, with notes on angling and boating, locks and tolls, distance table, and a list of riverside towns and villages. The map and the guide were first published in 1889 and had a number of later editions.

This poster is a high quality "giclée" reproduction of a restored antique original, custom-printed on Standard Single-weight Matt Coated art paper 140gsm or  Heavyweight Matt Coated art paper 230gsm (more of a thin card density), or superb Epson Matt Canvas 320gsm, according to your choice. We use the latest UltraChromeHDX pigment inks which guarantee 60 years of colour  permanence (up to 200 years fade-proof for colour prints).  This poster is suitable for mounting and framing, as well as direct display on a wall.

Please note the XLarge size option print would have white border approximately 2inch/5cm all around, for a buyer to trim.

All prints are made to order and carefully checked before posting. Our restored charts and maps are exclusive to VictorianMaps and not available anywhere else. There are no watermarks on the prints.

Combined shipping available—add all items to your basket to see the adjusted rate. Any extra postage paid will be refunded.

Returns:
If you're not satisfied, return within 14 days for a full refund.

For framing, we recommend the 230gsm paper or 320gsm canvas. The 140gsm paper is best for DIY framing or wall tacking.
