A spectacular highly detailed and hand-coloured map engraved by Sidney Hall and published by John Booth in 1816, in London, to accompany the book "The Battle of Waterloo, Ligny and Quatre Bras, published by authority, with circumstantial details by a near observer..." by George Jones and also published by John Booth, which is considered the most detailed description of events before, during and after the Battle of Waterloo. The book had multiple editions but now is very rare, as well as the map. The map has an extensive reference, including the list of regiments and commanders.

The Battle of Waterloo was fought on Sunday, 18 June 1815, near Waterloo in present-day Belgium, then part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. A French army under the command of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated by two of the armies of the Seventh Coalition: a British-led Allied army under the command of the Duke of Wellington, and a Prussian army under the command of Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, Prince of Wahlstatt. The battle marked the end of the Napoleonic Wars.
